Tools
There are several tools to help you perform common map functions such as zooming in and out and panning. There are also more advanced tools that allow you to do things
such as selecting data, measure distances and buffer on selected data. Below is an overview of each tool.

Export map to PDF
This tool will create a PDF document of the current map view. One feature of this PDF document is that each layer of the map can be turned on/off inside the
PDF document. Note that only layers that are currently visible on the map when you export it will be availabe in the PDF. To view the layers in the PDF
document click the layers button.
Here you can see an example of an exported map with the layers displayed. Clicking on the eye icon will
turn layers on and off inside the PDF.
Buffering
Buffering allows you to select features that are within a specified distance from a feature you have selected.
- Make a selection using the Select Features tool.
- Click the Buffer tab to bring up the buffer tools. The Buffer tab is located next to the Search tab on the left side.
- Enter a distance, in feet, to buffer from.
- Choose the layer that the buffer will select from.
- Click the Buffer button.
The buffer will select all of the features in the layer you selected that are within the distance you measured. The features will be highlighted on the map
and will also be listed in the results area. The red ring on the map indicates the buffer distance you entered.
To clear the buffer results, use the Clear Selection tool.
Searching
Currently we support searching on two of our layers: Tax Parcels and Address Locations.
Search Tax Parcels
You can search Tax Parcels by three fields: Owner name, Alternate Key, and Subdivision. If you do a search by owner name the format should be "Last name first name." For example, if you want
to find all the tax parcels owned by "Joseph Smith" you would enter "Smith Joseph" in the owner name field. Alternatively you can enter any part of the name to find possible matches. A search
for "Smith" will return all tax parcels that have Smith in the owner name. The same is true when you search by subdivision.
Search Addresses
The other search we have is a search by address. Just enter an address and you will get a list of possible matches. It is important to note that you must enter a street number along with the
street name. If you do a search for "Main Street" nothing will be returned. You must enter a street number, for example "315 Main Street." Entering the proper street suffix or prefix is not
necessary as the system will find all possible matches. For example, "315 Main St." and "315 Main Street" will return the same results.
All searches are case insensitive.
